hospice tree color                   LIGHT UP A LIFE                            hospice tree color

The holidays are a special time each year of reflection, memory and appreciation for those whose lives or deeds have touched ours.  The Hospice of Lubbock annual Life Up A Life celebration each December, offers the people of the 19 counties and communities we serve an opportunity to remember, honor or celebrate the lives and events of those we love.  Throughout the month, individuals and supporters can make a $10 donation toward the purchase of a light on the Hospice Tree of Lights to memorialize, honor or celebrate one of these special people or events.

This year, 2007, Hospice of Lubbock will be bringing back to the community the opportunity to gather round the new Hospice Tree of Lights.  For the past several years, our symbolic tree has stood atop the PlainsCapital Bank building at 50th & University.  A beautiful tree of hospice blue lights is now "on the ground" at the corner of 19th & University (Stay Bridge Suites corner) for all to see and enjoy the brilliance of the lights representing the lives of those we love and honor.  As this fundrasing event generates more and more light purchases, this beautiful tree of blue lights will increase in its brilliance and symbolize how life and love can pierce the darkness in our lives.

With each $10 donation a written Light Up A Life acknowledgment is sent to the family of those being memorialized with the name of the person purchasing the Life Light or to the living person being honored.  This is a lovely gift at Christmas time and serves the dual purpose of memorializing/honoring someone special AND helping Hospice of Lubbock to fulfill its promise to the community to provide hospice care to everyone in need, regardless of ability to pay.
