O.W. ENGLISH CHILDREN'S GRIEF CAMP

16 YEARS OF HELPING CHILDREN PROCESS THEIR GRIEF

Every July Hospice of Lubbock offers this children's day camp free-of-charge to the community to help our children cope with a recent loss of a loved-one.  Many of the children and grandchildren of our hospice patients attend the camp, but the child does not have to be from our hospice family to benefit or attend the camp.  ANY (ages 5-17) CHILD WHO IS SUFFERING THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE IS WELCOME.

The loss may be from a classmate, neighbor, or friend.  Hospice of Lubbock's Grief Recovery Center sponsors this camp and provides counselors and children's grief specialists to work with the children during the one-day camp as a part of its community outreach program.

This year's camp was on Saturday, July 14, 2007 from 8:30am- 3:30 pm.   A special "theme" is chosen for the camp each year and the day's schedule of activities will follow that theme as the children journey through the process of learning about grief, what death means, and how to cope with their young feelings as they travel the path of grief recovery.

Volunteers play a vital role in making this camp a reality each year. If you would like to become a Hospice of Lubbock Volunteer, visit our Volunteer section of the website, email   or call (806) 795-2751.
